Sleepwear
Bias-cut satin slips, camisoles and robes, trimmed with lace that is chosen piece by piece.
Handmade
FYN Handgemaak is a small Cape atelier. Every garment is cut, pinned and finished by hand — patterns drafted for one body, seams pressed slowly, fabric chosen by eye rather than by catalogue number.
Nothing here is made in volume. A slip, a wedding dress, a re-lined blazer — each one begins as a conversation and ends as something that fits only you.
That conversation is most of the work. We talk about how you want to feel in the thing, what you already reach for, the colours that suit your skin and the shapes that suit your shoulders — then we choose the cloth together. Sometimes that is silk; often it is linen, wool, velvet or a fabric you have kept in a cupboard for years, waiting for the right hands.
The atelier
Bias-cut satin slips, camisoles and robes, trimmed with lace that is chosen piece by piece.
Velvet, silk and structure for the occasions that deserve an outfit made only once.
Brides, bridesmaids and mothers of the bride — fitted over months, not minutes.
A first proper dress, drawn from a sketch on the studio table and made to be kept.
Alterations, re-linings and remade favourites — jackets given a second, better life.
It is a truth universally felt, that a cloth chosen with care speaks more honestly than one merely admired.
The process
Every commission moves through the same unhurried order: a measured pattern drafted on paper, a toile pinned and adjusted on the body, then the final cloth — cut once, sewn slowly, finished by hand.
